Summary- The poem is based on six humans who refused to put their log of wood in the dying fire .The white man refused because of racism against the black. The black refuses to put his log because of revenge on the white.The next man refused to put the log because of his intolerance  for other religion.The rich refused to help the poor and poor refuses as he thinks the rich to be unworthy. The last man is filled with selfishness.

1.EXTRACT "SIX HUMANS TRAPPED"
i)

• Figure of speech is alliteration.
• Literally significance, unpleasant cold.
• Metaphoricall significance, the hatredness within their hearts for each other.                  

ii)

• The 6 men trapped in the cold are referred here.
• They need logs to keep themselves warm by burning it.

iii)

• Literally meaning the fire needs logs to keep burning.
• Metaphorically means the fire of compassion in their hearts is dying.

iv)

• As he notices that one of the 6 men is a black person I.e African American 

v)

• Both refused to put their log due to racism and intolerance to other religion.

2.Extract

i)

• Old and torn cloths.
• Poor man doesn't have enough cloths.
• To protect himself from the cold.

• As he thinks him to be unworthy.

• Thought about his wealth and money and to keep it safe from the poor.
• He is biased and selfish.

• To take revenge from the white man.

He saw a chance to take revenge from the white man by not putting his log in the fire.

• Figure of speech oxymoron

• Game of selfishness which led to his death.

• Poet-James is trying to stop people from hating each other.He coveys the message that if we hate some due to their caste and creed it will led our selves into trouble.
